Sermon Notes...
A Better Place (Philippians 1:20-30)
THEME: My Home In Heaven
Heaven is a very real place, far superior in every possible way to this place, that resides in eternity and on a spiritual plane with God as its very context and central figure.

TEXT:
1.) The Idea Of Heaven (V. 1a)
"Do not let your hearts be troubled ..."
For many heaven (death) is a disturbing topic because much about it remains a mystery.
2.) The Trouble With Heaven (V. 1b)
"Trust in God. Trust also in me."
It is almost as if God is saying, "Trust Me," but our faith has not developed to the level where we are willing or even able to do so.
3.) The Point Of Heaven (V. 2)
"In my Father's House are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go there to prepare a place for you."
The truth is that the details of heaven are like a lover's gift prepared as a special surprise for his beloved on their wedding day.
4.) The Way To Heaven (Vs. 3,4)
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be where I am. And you know the way to the place where I am going."
Access to our new residence will be provided by the same one who has lovingly designed and crafted it.
5.) The Certainty Of Heaven (Vs. 5,6)
"Thomas said to Him, 'Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?' Jesus answered, 'I am the way, and truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
This is a promise, in fact, that is every bit as reliable as the one who made it.

TRANSITION:
Think about it this week ...
Do the words of Jesus make heaven seem more real to you? If so, why?
